On September 22-23, a two-day film festival is taking place, honoring the youngest filmmakers.

In a joint effort by the Hungarian Hollywood Council, the Municipality of Mátészalka, and Origo Film Studio, the second International Adolf Zukor Film Festival, AZIFF 2023, has opened its doors. The festival pays tribute to the legendary Hungarian filmmaker of Hollywood, the founder of Paramount Pictures, Adolf Zukor, who was born 150 years ago.

The Adolf Zukor Film Festival focuses on the youngest filmmakers, awarding creators between the ages of 12 and 18. The winning works will be selected from the pre-selected top 25 competition films by a professional jury. The chairman of the professional jury is Attila Szász, a Balázs Béla Award-winning film director.

In addition to official screenings, the film festival offers numerous interesting programs for visitors. This year’s AZIFF guests include Róbert Koltai, an Honorary Member of the Immortals’ Society, Actress Dorka Gryllus, Director Attila Szász, Hargitai László, a member of the European Film Academy and president of the Hungarian Film and Video Editors’ Association, who is also the head of the Post-Production Film Studio at Origo Film Studio, Budapest. Representing the young generation of filmmakers is Director Kevin Králl.

Additionally, the festival program includes book presentations and musical gatherings. The festival is open to the public and free of charge, with no need for prior registration. The organizers aim to engage the general public, so they are organizing light, personal discussions based on individual experiences rather than professional discourses.
