The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced 15 winners of the 51st Student Academy Awards®, chosen from 2,683 entries submitted by students from 738 colleges and universities worldwide.
The winners represent four categories: Alternative/Experimental, Animation, Documentary, and Narrative.
For the first time, the awards ceremony will be held outside Beverly Hills, taking place at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London on October 14, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. BST.
Traditionally hosted at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, this year’s event is in partnership with Rolex and is free to the public, though advance tickets are required. Gold, silver, and bronze placements will be announced at the ceremony.
The winning films are eligible to compete for the 2024 Oscars® in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, or Documentary Short Film categories. In addition, winners will gain exclusive access to Academy members and participate in networking opportunities at the BFI London Film Festival. Past Student Academy Award winners have gone on to receive 67 Oscar® nominations, winning or sharing 15 awards.
