According to Bild am Sonntag newspaper, the Volkswagen Group (VW) continues to be the world’s largest carmaker company.The German company sold a record number of cars last year: according to the company’s non-public calculations they sold about 10,7 million cars in 2017.
This is the second time when Volkswagen has the title of the largest carmaker company of the world. Toyota is the second: the Japanese company sold 10,4 million cars in 2017.
Volkswagen set a record regarding its income as well: it reached a record of 220 billion euros (68,200 billion HuF) in 2017. One year earlier the company’s income was 217,3 billion euros.
According to Bild am Sonntag, these outstanding results are due to the company’s growth on the Chinese market.
In addition to Volkswagen cars, the Volkswagen Group produces Audi, Skoda and Seat cars, and such luxury brands as Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ducati. In addition to its own branded trucks, Volkswagen also produces Scania and MAN trucks.
