In May 2025, consumer prices were on average 4.4% higher than a year earlier. Compared to April, prices rose by 0.2% on average, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday.
Food prices increased by 5.9% over 12 months (or 4.5% excluding catering services). Within this category:

According to the report, household energy prices increased by 5.3% on average:

Vehicle fuel prices decreased by 4.8%, while pharmaceuticals and medical products increased by 5.4% compared to a year earlier.
Compared to April, consumer prices rose by 0.2% on average.
Food prices increased by 0.6% (also +0.6% excluding catering services), largely driven by a 1.6% rise in the prices of seasonal products (potatoes, fresh vegetables, local and tropical fruits). Additional increases:
