The Hungarian Science Month has begun on Monday in the headquarters of the Debrecen Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (that is called ”DAB-székház”). In the opening ceremony, research and innovation awards were given on Monday.
In the opening event of the month, the participants were also informed about the future re-organization of the system: the leadreship of the five regional committees will be unified, and instead of the 40 research institutes there will be only 15.
The Hungarian Academy of Sciences will operate with more modern research conditions and will get a greater amount of state subsidy. István Bicskey, president of the regional committe of the Academy hopes that this re-organization proves to be cost effective and will boost the local research work, as well.
