The Indian-Hungarian economic relations can be improved in several areas including information technology, manufacturing automotive parts and tourism.
On 24 April, the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce together with the municipality of Debrecen organized a business meeting for Hungarian and Indian businessmen. Gauri Shankar Gupta, Indian Ambassador to Hungary also attended the meeting and highlighted in his opening speech that India has the fourth largest economy in the world.
A close economic cooperation between India and the European Union has been going on since 1994. The country is one of the biggest foreign investors in Hungary, especially in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, information technology, electronics and chemical industry. During the discussion that followed the talks, the Indian Ambassador expressed his opinion that the Indian-Hungarian economic connections could be expanded mainly in the areas of information technology, manufacturing automotive parts and tourism.
By means of the Debrecen-London, Debrecen-Milan and the Debrecen-Eindhoven flights to be started this year, much more Indian tourists could visit Debrecen. According to the Ambassador, Debrecen must by all means highlight the fact that the Transylvanian touristic spots are also easy to reach from the city.
Deputy Mayor of Debrecen László Papp declared that the municipality of Debrecen is making efforts to make it possible for the Debrecen-based companies to build successful relations with the participants of the Indian market. It was also mentioned, that in order to strengthen the economic and cultural relations, Debrecen would like to speed up the ongoing process which leads to Debrecen’s becoming a twin city of the Indian city of Jaipur.
I am basically Chemist and have plan to visit Debrecen during end of 2012, for post doctoral research. would like to be part of any economic development program which is mutually beneficial to both countries.
