The Equal Treatment Authority initiated proceedings against the University of Debrecen.They started investigating because the university discriminated some of its students based on their political views.
TASZ reported that after the Russian president Vladimir Putin had received a honorary citizen title from the University of Debrecen, many students protested against the decision. The University of Debrecen deleted students’ opinions from their Facebook page and they even blocked one of their students from the site.
The Equal Treatment Authority asked for a declaration from the University of Debrecen, because a state institution cannot discriminate anyone based on their political views.
