The archaeologists of the Déri Museum carried out an excavation on the outskirts of the settlement in 2019-2020, before the expansion of the Biharkeresztes airport. During the seven months of work, a late Bronze Age settlement was found. The rich finds included extremely many intact or nearly intact ceramic pots, portable stoves, and grindstones. In addition to the prehistoric residence, memories of Avar burials and various objects were also unearthed.
However, the most exciting find of the excavation was a 9th-century pit hiding a piece of pottery. The restoration of the finds is handled by the employees of Salisbury Kft. in Budapest, who have to work with an amount of 60 compartments of material when restoring the approximately 100 pots.
