Two men were caught during a routine police check in Debrecen, leading to legal action being taken against them.
Police officers in Debrecen pulled over a car on Kishegyesi Road on Wednesday evening because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. During the check, both the driver and the passenger behaved nervously, and officers detected a distinct smell of marijuana.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officers’ suspicions were quickly confirmed: suspected drugs were found in a beach-style wallet hidden under the seat and also in the trunk. Both men were taken into custody, and approximately 20 grams of plant-derived substance was confiscated. Rapid drug tests came back positive for both the Debrecen and Egyek residents.
The Debrecen Police Department has launched proceedings for drug possession, and the driver also faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs.
