The Hungarian Accreditation Committee (HAC) will carry out an institutional accreditation procedure at the University of Debrecen next year. It will be examined whether the University of Debrecen complies with all international higher education guidelines. The results of the procedure will show whether the quality assurance system of the University of Debrecen continuously monitors the generally valid ESG 2015 (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area) standards and participates in the development of those measures and processes. , which can guarantee competence-based, quality education.
In connection with this, the institution will prepare a self-assessment report with the involvement of university citizens and external partners, which must be sent to the Hungarian Accreditation Committee by 14 January 2022.
In the report, the University of Debrecen must also report on the measures proposed by the HAC in its previous accreditation decision.
The committee prepares its report after a personal visit, in which it analyzes the university’s quality assurance system, evaluates the UD’s education and training activities, the effectiveness of quality assurance, the transparency of processes and the conscious application of procedures.
The report and decision to be made to the University of Debrecen following the procedure is a confirmation of how an independent organization sees and evaluates the quality of education at the university. There are basic elements of the process, such as student-centered learning, teaching, monitoring and supporting student progress, evaluating faculty performance, and providing student services. One of the most important institutional goals of the quality assurance strategy and processes is for students to progress according to their individual abilities and expectations during their university studies, and then to obtain a sought-after and recognized qualification that meets the expectations of the labor market. Even before the last accreditation procedure in 2017, the University of Debrecen developed the quality assurance strategy of ESG 2015 in line with the criteria, defined the institutional quality objectives and regulated the quality management processes. The institutional accreditation procedure was last carried out by the HAC at the University of Debrecen five years ago, and in 2018 the committee issued the necessary license for the basic operation of the UD, which is valid until December 2022.
